A Line in the Sand

Throughout history many have rejected God and His creation. Peter said of such people that they are “willingly ignorant” (2 Peter 3:5), and Paul said they are “without excuse” (Romans 1:20).
Many in today’s world are compromising with evolutionary philosophy, replacing literal creation days with lengthy geologic ages. Their dismissal of six-day creation is cloaked in a robe of pseudoscience, an evolutionary myth deceiving even professing Christians. According to them, the creation week must be stretched into inflated evolutionary ages, arguing that the Hebrew yom does not mean an ordinary-length day in Genesis 1. “Professing themselves to bewise, they became fools,” as in Romans 1:22 – despising true knnowledge, wisdom, and the instruction of God’s Word.

This book is dedicated to the Triune God, the Creator and Sustainer of the Universe. “Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear” (Hebrews 11:3). Choose the evolutionary lie if you wish, but you will be slain by the Goliath of unbelief. Whoever comes believing as David did, however, will find Goliath easily toppled.

The challenge for Christians? The mind of Christ, countering the hollow philosophies of this world! Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength [my Rock] and my Redeemer (Psalm 19:14).

Dr. Gerald R. Bergman, Professor, Division of Arts and Sciences, Northwest State Community College, Archbold, Ohio – having taught biology, genetics, chemistry, biochemistry, anthropology, geology, and microbiology:
A Line in the Sand is like a snack – short but mouth-watering examples that please the mind and defend the creation worldview. It covers a wide variety of topics, all well-written, interesting, and scripturally-based – backed up by current relevant research. One example is the claim that scientists have created a revolution in biology, putting God out of a role in creation by making the first synthetic cell … an interesting project helping us understand biology, but not what the media proclaimed. Nor did the cost, 30 million dollars and 15 years of work, give scientists even close to 30 million dollars worth of information. This book is filled with similar examples that are sure to please the curious and, at the same time, defend creationism.

Dr. John Byl, Ph.D. in Astronomy, Professor Emeritus and former Chair of the Department of Mathematical Sciences at Trinity Western University, Langley, BC. – specializing in galactic astronomy, theoretical physics, applied mathematics, science technology, and the Christian worldview.
A Line in the Sandis an interesting devotional, written at a popular level, defending the truth of God’s Word against the current evolutionary worldview. It gives a good discussion of the pertinent presuppositions, arguments, and implications. This book will encourage readers to trust in God, and to persevere against worldly culture.

Dr. Chien-an Andy Hu, Professor, Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, University of New Mexico School of Medicine, Albuquerque, NM:
Like the Apostle Paul and Dr. Luke, my brother in Christ possesses genuine zeal and wisdom in defending our faith in God’s six-day creation. As the Bible says: “And without faith it is impossible to please God” (Hebrews 11:6a). Indeed, our faith dwells on Special Revelation (God’s Word) interpreting general revelation (God’s world). The question really is whether you want to please God or men.

Dr. John MacArthur, Pastor/teacher/broadcaster, Grace Community Church, Sun Valley, CA; President of the Master’s College and Seminary; featured teacher for the Grace to You media ministry (reaching millions worldwide), having written many bestselling books – advocating young earth creationism in his 2001 book, The Battle for the Beginning:
Let Scripture speak for itself, and the record of creation is clear. Let scientific facts speak for themselves, and they do not contradict Scripture. Mix in some theories rooted in rationalistic, materialistic naturalism, and the story becomes hopelessly muddled and subject to endless revision. Dr. Mulder is an accomplished physician [surgeon] and author who loves truth more than conjecture, and he is skilled at showing how the truth of Scripture accords with the facts of science once they have been disentangled from the figments of speculative hypotheses. I love the clarity and reasonableness of his logic. This book is a wonderful anthology of his work, showing how perfectly Scripture agrees with the evidence of God’s hand in nature.

Dr. Joseph A. Pipa, Jr., President, Greenville Presbyterian Theological Seminary, Greenville, SC.:
Lately, we have heard a lot about lines in the sand, only to learn that the water has washed them away and they mean nothing. Dr. Mulder’s A Line in the Sand, is not like those ephemeral lines of public posturing. This book is a hard-hitting, aggressive, positive defense of six-day creationism in contrast to the pseudo-scientific theories so attractive to modern Christians. Dr. Mulder exposes the fallacy of those who claim that adherents of six-day creation are anti-intellectual. The book is factual, up-to-date, and opposed to compromise. Each section is brief, to the point, and easy to understand.

John Van Dyk, Editor, Christian Renewal Magazine:
Defending the faith is part of our calling as Christians. The credibility of Genesis 1-3 has been under attack over the years from many corners – from those denying it outright, as well as from those seeking compromise, thereby undermining the integrity of its message. Dr. Mulder is a staunch defender of the creation account in Scripture. This book is in the line of those who say, “Thus says the Lord,” in defense of the plain meaning of Scripture, and he does it in his own unique style. As challenges to Scripture’s veracity become more pronounced, even in our own circles, Dr. Mulder’s book becomes more urgent and timely today.

Rev. G.I. Williamson, Retired OPC Pastor, best known for his Study Guides on the Westminster Confession of Faith, the Westminster Shorter Catechism, and the Heidelberg Catechism:
A Line in the Sand, is what it is called, and that is what it is: an uncompromising challenge to stop being afraid of (and making concessions to) the great hoax called “evolution.” I welcome this book and hope many who are “on the fence” (so to speak) will read it.
